The first few months of a puppy’s life are an important time for learning how to interact with other dogs and feel comfortable in new situations.
Puppy Play at Blakehurst Vet gives young puppies the chance to meet and play with other pups in a safe, supervised environment.
It’s also a lovely way for puppies to build positive associations with visiting the vet while they’re young, helping make future visits feel a little more familiar.

Is Puppy Play right
for your pup?
Our sessions are designed for young Blakehurst Vet patients during their early socialisation period.
Here’s what you need to know.
8-14 weeks old
Puppy Play is available during your puppy’s early socialisation period. Small breeds can attend from 10-14 weeks, while large breeds can attend from 8-12 weeks.
Free for our patients
There’s no charge for Puppy Play. Your puppy simply needs to have seen one of our vets for a consultation first.
One hour of supervised play
Puppies spend an hour meeting and playing with other pups while our team keeps a close eye on the group.
Three sessions
Puppies can attend three Puppy Play sessions during the eligible age period, giving them more than one opportunity to build confidence.
Owners don’t stay
You can leave your puppy with our team for the session and collect them afterwards.
Held on Wednesdays
Puppy Play sessions are held on Wednesdays. Places are limited, so please call us to find out when the next session is available.
Why Puppy Play?
Learning through
play
Puppies learn a huge amount from interacting with each other. During play, they begin to read other dogs’ body language, practise appropriate play and become more comfortable around different personalities.
A supervised environment gives them an opportunity to have these experiences while they are still young and forming their view of the world.
Puppy Play isn’t a replacement for puppy training or Puppy School. It’s all about safe socialisation and giving your pup another positive experience during those important early weeks.

What age can my puppy attend Puppy Play?
Puppy Play is for puppies aged 8–14 weeks, depending on breed size. Smaller breeds can attend from 10–14 weeks, while larger breeds can attend from 8–12 weeks.
Does my puppy need to be a Blakehurst Vet patient?
Yes. Puppy Play is free for puppies who have already seen one of our vets for a consultation. This means our team knows your puppy and can make sure Puppy Play is appropriate for them.
Does my puppy need to be vaccinated to attend Puppy Play?
Yes. Puppies need to have had at least one vaccination before attending Puppy Play.
Is Puppy Play the same as Puppy School?
No. Puppy Play focuses on supervised socialisation and interaction with other puppies. It isn’t a training course or Puppy School.
How much does Puppy Play cost?
Nothing. Puppy Play is free for eligible Blakehurst Vet patients.
