Meet the team

The people who'll
care for your pet

We’re a small, stable team with years of experience between us. Familiar faces, unhurried care and a genuine interest in the animals we look after.

Head vet

Dr Hamish Bathgate

After graduating from Sydney University, Hamish’s first job took him to rural NSW working with large animals. He then headed to England, working as a small animal vet and spending time on the RSPCA TV show before returning home.

Hamish bought Blakehurst Vet in 2007 and has been caring for local pets ever since. He has a particular passion for diagnosing tricky medical problems and performing soft tissue surgery, and brings a calm, methodical approach that puts both pets and their owners at ease.
