WHAT IS DOGGIE DAY SCHOOL?

We understand that life is busy and it’s very difficult to find the time to socialise, exercise and teach your dog a few basics, which is why we’ve started Doggie Day School. Our school is not a place to correct serious behaviours, rather a place for your pooch to socialise safely, have a fun day and learn a few things along the way.

HOW DOES ENROLMENT WORK?

You will need to fill out an enrolment form before attending school. Our nurses will send you this form after you’ve expressed interest. At this stage, we are running Doggie Day School on Wednesdays and Fridays to ensure there are enough pooches to socialise. Other days will become available as demand increases.

DO YOU ACCEPT OLDER DOGS?

We accept dogs of all ages, as long as the mix of breeds and ages works for that day and as long as your older dog enjoys the company of other dogs and people.

WHAT ABOUT VACCINATIONS AND FLEA TREATMENT?

Your dog must have had their third vaccination to attend and must be up to date with their vaccinations.

If your pooch has not been vaccinated at Blakehurst Vet, you will need to provide proof of vaccinations by sending a copy to: [email protected]

Your dog must be up to date with flea and tick treatment to attend.

WHAT IF MY DOG DOESN’T LIKE TO BE AROUND OTHER DOGS?

To ensure everyone’s safety, we only accept dogs that enjoy the company of  other dogs and people.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I DROP OFF AND COLLECT?

Day school starts at 8am so we would recommend dropping your dog to school between 7:45 and 8:15am and collecting between 1:45pm and 2:15pm.

DO YOU DO AFTER SCHOOL CARE?

Yes, your pooch is welcome to stay in one of our luxurious dog hotel suites until 630pm. You will be charged $10 for every hour or part thereof from 2:30pm.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

All you will need to bring is your dog, their collar and lead. If you have special treats that would help us train your dog, please bring those too.

WHO WILL BE TRAINING MY DOG?

Our Doggie Day School teaches basic skills and our caring animal attendants have the knowledge and experience to provide basic training and give your dog a great day out. If you need specialist training, our team works with and recommends two excellent trainers –  Ally Piper from Paws Plus Consulting  0410 667 414 and Jenny Harlow from Jenny Harlow Dog Training.

I’LL MISS MY DOGGO DURING THE DAY, CAN I HAVE UPDATES?

Yes, we will message you with photos and videos throughout the day showing you what your baby is learning and who their pup friends are.

WHERE DO YOU TAKE MY DOG FOR A WALK?

We do daily walks in beautiful Carss Park for exercise and to allow our doggies to spend time in nature. These walks are also important for us to concentrate on lead training.

WHAT WILL MY DOG BE LEARNING?

We focus on basic commands like lead walking, sit, stay, come and “on your bed.” We do not pretend to “fix” behaviours, but do our best to work with you to teach your pooch some basic training.

WHAT WILL MY DOG BE DURING THE DAY?

Timings may change due to weather and mix of temperaments, however, a typical day looks like this:

8am-9:30am – Socialise and play with friends

9:30am-11am – Training

11am-11:30am – Rest time

11:30am-12:30pm – Lead walking in the park

12:30pm – 1:30pm – Supervised play with friends

1:45pm-2pm – Parents pick up

WHAT DOES IT COST?

You may choose a 10 pack pass ($600) or 20 pack pass ($1100). Packs must be used within three months. After school care is $10 per hour or part thereof from 230pm. Unfortunately, we cannot discount for siblings.

WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT?

Once you book, we have secured your place and turn other pooches away as a result. If you wish to cancel, please email [email protected] Cancellations must be made before 3pm the day before school, otherwise you will forfeit your place for that day and no refund or credit will be given.

If you decide school is not for you and wish to cancel your packs, a cancellation fee of $30 will apply.
